Ingersoll is king of the hill in Pneumatic tools
Been using this gun(2141) for a few months now. The performance is unlike any other. Have been using a Large 1 inch format gun (cheapie Chinese jobs) with a rating of 1600 lbs of torque. While that gun is strong indeed, the 2141 does the same in a small format (Chinese gun is 38 lbs). When you are working with very heavy things all day it is nice to get a break at some point, this gun is a dream.

I use this to pull off lugs on heavy tractors and trailers, both inboard and outboard type wheels. While it may be a tight squeeze on some wheels because it lacks the two to six inch extension of the large guns, it does manage to fit in and get on the lugs. Also, I find that the 3/4 sockets are easier to find and cheaper than 1 inch. Although I do maintain a full range of the 1 inch sockets anyhow (Hey, I already own them)

I had one occasion where a lug just wouldn't move so I saved it for last, let the compressor fill up, tried again and it still didn't come off. A...

strong
This thing is strong. 1200 ft lb of torque compared to the 261 model with 1100. The 261 is mega heavy compared to this one too.

Keep in mind, standard shop air hoses are only 1/4", and really don't provide the cfm needed to run this tool. If that's what you have to use, you can hit it for a few seconds, let the hose fill back up, hit it again, or spring for a fatter hose. Their website recommends 1/2".

I paid about 380 for mine, now looks like the best deal amazon has is 390, compared to 388 for the 261. I recall getting the 261 for 325 about 10 years ago.

Brought my gun back to life.
My 16-17 year old 2131 lost its power- it couldn't remove lugnuts. I was set to buy a new gun but figured I'd try to rebuild it. Installed the rebuild parts and the gun is almost like new! Note- the vanes I received were a different shape than the originals. The originals were symmetrical if laid out flat, but the new ones had a small cut out on the bottom on one side. I put the cut out towards the back of the gun and it works great. The picture that comes with the kit shows the old vanes.

Great kit
Ive been a mechanic for about 10 years. When I first started I purchased an Ingersoll Rand 2131. Finally it started getting weak and would give me problems once in a while. Figured I would try to rebuild it instead of buying a new one. This kit is awesome. Comes with every little seal and gasket and all the vanes. Gun works like it is brand new!
Does the job, but instructions could be better
This is an original equipment kit and thus all the parts are exactly right. My only complaint is that the instructions are not great for first-time impact wrench repairers like myself, but I was able to figure it out.

Now my wrench has the same oomph it did when I first bought it ten years ago. Yeah!

8 years old and going strong.
I've had this impact for almost 8 years now. It still works as if it were new!

Over the years I've had to replace the trigger mechanism and directional buttons but that's about it. $20 or so in parts and this gun is still running strong.

My only complaint is that my anvil is starting to wear out and barely holds on to sockets anymore. I guess that's what happens when you use a 3/8" impact to do the job of a 1/2".
Its too fast for me
I'll stick with a snap on 3/8 next purchase because this wrench is too fast. I still give it a 5. If you have the need for speed, go for it. But I warned you1

Pneumatic Palm Nailer
I recently retired and have undertaken a project to build a woodworking shop-garage. Swinging a hammer has become a very tiresome chore, and I was considering the purchase of a framing nailer. Upon reviewing information from various manufacturers, I realized that a framing nailer is a very specialized tool.
However, I happened to run across information about palm nailers. In reviewing the information provided by Amazon, I read that a palm nailer can be used for nailing any size nail and in many different applications. I could see where this would be a more useful tool than a framing nailer. I purchased the Bostitch PN100 kit, and immediately started using it with 16d nails in framing my new shop. I then used 10d nails in decking the roof. All I can say is this nailer is wonderful!! It drives nails quickly, at any angle, and in a limited amount of space. You do have to be careful to make sure that the alignment of the nail with the nailer is correct; if not, bent nails will...

Great construction tool
Bostitch PN100 Impact Nailer

Operation:

This tool will drive virtually any bulk nail, the kind sold by the pound. The smallest nail Bostitch recommends is a 5d (d=penny, a term that refers to nail size). Bostitch claims the maximum size is 75d, but the head on those huge nails won't fit in any of the nose-pieces that Bostitch offers. However, I've used it on 6d to 20d nails with great success.

Insert the nail into the PN100's "nose", where a built-in magnet holds it. Hold the nailer with either hand, press the point of the nail into the material; when the tool senses the pressure, a fast-acting piston cycles the hammer which drives the nail. It sounds like a Tommy Gun. You can drive a 20d nail in about one second, depending on wood hardness. You can also start the nail with a hammer then put the PN100 on that nail, or, hold the nail with your fingers (risky), or hold the nail with another tool (e.g., pliers).

Great Nailer!
I have just begun a 2000 sq. ft. addition on my home. This nailer is the perfect tool for nailing all the joist hangers. I have a lot of engineered lumber in my design and trying to drive a nail by hand into a microlam beam is very difficult. I have framing nailers but they are too big to get in between the rafters at times.

The tool has a good feel and weight. Very comfortable. I drove over 200 nails the first day I used it and it never malfuctioned once. The glove keeps the tool where it needs to be and there is very limited recoil so it doesn't bother your hand at all.

I would recomend this nailer to anyone who does even the smallest amount of construction or home inprovement. In fact I have a second one on order for a Christmas gift for my 68 year old father who fell in love with it the first time he used it.

Awesome Impact
I purchased this for a fleet maintenance shop with a couple pf hundred units. It is one of the better if not the best impact I have usd in over 20 years in the business, and at a much better price than I found on some lesser impacts.Great and fast customer service.

ALOT of torque
The Thunder Gun will rattle out almost any old rusty bolt or spin off almost any nut you can put it on. The ones that are stuck really good, well it will twist them off. I have had it twist several 1/2" and a few 5/8" bolts that were rusted in solid.

I use this gun for work on big rigs and farm tractors. Can't beat it for the money. Just be sure to upgrade your hose and fittings to give it plenty of air.

The only downfall is that it uses alot of cfm at load. It will tap a smaller compressor if you are using it heavily.

5 Stars Awsome product! I have been A field service mechanic for 15 years, the Ingersoll Thunder gun is the most powerfull and longest lasting 1/2 inch drive I've ever owned.
Note Well the Reqd CFM...
I bought this item because all IR Tools seem to be the best in their class. I needed a replacement 1/2" Gun to replace the cheap one I got from Northern after the trigger fell out. I needed to run some 3/4" Nuts off the hitch on my Bobcat Trailer so I cranked up the gun on an older T30 IR Two-Stage Compressor set at 150 psi. I was really surprised that after soaking the non-rusted nuts with Liquid Wrench for a couple days, I couldn't get them to budge. Everything was right but the wrench was totally wimpy. I had to use a breaker bar and start them all without the wrench...
When I asked at the dealer the sales person seemed confused by my issue but looked it up in the fine print and was very surprised to find that the tool requires 23 cfm to do real work. That's some huge cfm by most tools standards. In fact, without 23 cfm the tool makes a nice noise but it'll do no work. My pretty big 50 gal T30 IR Compressor is only good to 17 cfm at 150 which is probably too much...

Great for my uses. Wish I had gotten it years ago
I have been performing maintenance on the family cars since my dad died when I was fifteen. That makes over a quarter century of brakes jobs and tire rotations, removing and tightening lugs with a T wrench. A couple weeks ago, I bought a compressor; mainly to keep the tires inflated, but I couldn't resist sizing it at least marginally enough to run an impact wrench. Then I couldn't resist going ahead and getting the wrench. I worked a little overtime, made my order, and my Ingersoll-Rand 2130 was on the table when I got home from work this evening. I immediately went out to perform an overdue rotation on the Silverado. Those who've used impact wrenches regularly will laugh, but I was downright dumbfounded when the wrench tapped the lug nut a few times and spun the nut off in a fraction of a second. And the wrench hardly attempts to turn in your hand. Had I known an impact wrench would make life this easy, I would have invested in the wrench and compressor years ago...

Powerful, solid, compact and very lightweight as far as impact wrenches go. I have had impact wrenches before that the sockets fall off too easily but this one holds them real snug and has about as many features on it as you can fit on an impact wrench. There are many way more expensive wrenches out there but this one will stand tall next to all of them in the same performance class. Get it now.
Great Tool, don't know how I got along without one.
I put this tool to good use right away to remove a 1 and 1/4 inch nut which was holding on the rear axle yoke on my 88 Chevy Pickup. I had tried to break it loose previously with a half inch breaker bar and couldn't budge it. I've never used an impact wrench before so I didn't know exactly what to expect, so I set my compressor at 85psi (manual says 90psi is max.) put the socket over the nut and pulled the trigger. About 5 seconds later the nut was off. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Putting the new yoke on was a bit tricky as you have to be careful not to damage the crush washer. I set the tool on the lowest setting and it was very easy to control with the trigger; I got it on with no problem. Next I needed to replace a brake caliper so I used it to pull off the front tire which was just plain fun. I'm just a shade tree mechanic but have found lots of uses for this tool. Virtually indestructable
That's right. Our shop uses these 231's for regular duty and tire service. These things last for years despite being dropped on the floor, not oiled regularly, and zero maintenance. Typically the power selector knobs are the first thing to go on these wrenches. If you need good performance and a tool that will last a long time then this is your wrench.

I'm a professional diesel mechanic, and I will not buy any other impact but this one. My first one lasted me for 10 years, through drops, kicks, no oiling, etc. I only don't have it anymore because I moved and sold it to a friend who still uses it. I have put this thing head to head with impacts 3 times the price of this one, and it has always been the strongest and most powerful. Most of the people in my last shop borrowed mine because it was the most powerful in the shop, and nearly everyone at my new shop has one. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Works Great!
I needed a impact wrench for rotating my tires. Originally I bought a Harbor Freight Special...... and it wouldn't turn the lug nuts on my Silverado or Trailblazer for nothing. I bought this baby with my money from Christmas and I am very happy. I rotated my tires this weekend without a problem! I was concerned with the compressor I had. I was worried it wasn't big enough for tools like a impact wrench. I have a Makita MAC2400 4.2 CFM and it was good enough for this wrench. So far I highly recommend!
