Great gun
I bought this reconditioned, and I like both the saving, and the fact that someone looked over the tool. This winter I shot 10,000 plastic colated Hitachi nails through this gun without a single misfire. The company I worked with uses the Hitachi siding nailer, thats why the nailes were hitachi. And I bought a Bostitch nailer because it was both cheaper, and watching others with the Hitachi frustrated with jambing and misfires, helped me make my choice

great gun
We use this gun for cedar siding, trim boards, and plywood sheeting for both roofs and sidewall sheeting. The gun is light, reliable, durable, and easy to repair if you do abuse it. We have replaced an aircap and a top seal (the gun took a nose dive off a 3 story victorian roof) That said we have enjoyed using it and would recommend it. Can't think of a down side so a 5 star buy. One note if your I would recommend the wire collated over the plastic collated ...we have had issues with the little plastic trails that hangs onto the nail and sticks out around the head. Wire seams to be cleaner.
GREAT LIGHT WEIGHT GUN
I BOUGHT THIS PARTICULAR NAIL GUN FOR DOING CEDAR SHINGLE JOBS. ITS VERY LIGHT WEIGHT. VERY HELPFUL WHEN USING IT FOR 8 HRS A DAY FOR SEVERAL DAYS IN A ROW. I OWN OTHER BOSTITCH GUNS , NEVER HAVE ANY TROUBLE. PARTS ARE EASY TO GET IF NEEDED. NAILS FOR IT ARE AVILABLE ALMOST EVERYWHERE. PLUS ITS MADE IN U.S.A.

Stanley Bostitch F28WW Clipped Head 2-inch to 3-1/2-inch Framing Nailer with Magnesium Housing
Framing, siding, decking, attaching wood to masonry, you name it, this versatile and lightweight framing nailer from Bostitch does it all. This clipped-head nail gun is equipped with a patented pushbutton adjustable depth guide that sets the nail to desired depths quickly and conveniently. A depth-of-drive control of course means there’s no adjusting compressor pressure, but also that you don’t have to fumble for tools when you’re standing on a steep roof. Just set the compressor at 80 psi and adjust the depth as needed.

Weighing just 7.6 pounds, the tool handles great in tight quarters like attics and during otherwise shoulder-burning overhead tasks. The innovative design is a big plus when nailing top plates to floor joints or when crawling under that low deck to reinforce the new hot-tub. A factory installed sequential trigger and Bostitch’s exclusive Smart Trigger ensure optimal control and faster production. The trigger works as either a sequential or bump fire trigger. A notched, 16-inch layout indicator on the magazine helps achieve correct distance between studs in a matter of seconds. And, a lightweight magnesium housing means easy handling and unsurpassed durability.

The unit drives 2- to 3-1/2-inch wire-collated framing nails. One of the most powerful framers on the market, this nailer features 1,050 inch-pounds of driving power for tackling even toughest engineered lumber applications. And, bolt-on, steel wear guards with integrated rubber skid pads protect the tool from bumps and drops for durability and years of use. --Brian D. Olson

good framing nailer
being a pro framer, i have used many brands of nailers. hitachis are my favorite, but if you don't have the cash for them, this gun is a close second. lots of power. will nail into engineered wood. the teeth are nice and sharp making toe-nails a breeze. you won't have to pull out your hammer to finish off any toe-nails with this gun. little things about this gun are nice too. like the air exhaust can be moved in any direction without tools and comes with a rafter hook preventing some nasty falls off joists or trusses. good framing gun, not the best, but a good framing gun none the less. worth buying.

just to add to my original review; after using my gun for a few months of constant use on the job site, i have had a few problems. the rafter hook broke pretty easily so now i have to be extra careful nailing joists and trusses. also, every now and then a bit of dirt or sand will get in the housing and just sprays air out of the exhaust. to fix it i have to take it apart and...

Bostitch is the best...
I own 4 Bostitch nailers and they are all great. I like the light weight of the nailer as well as its more than adequate power. You just can't beat the ease of use for a pneumatic nail gun.

I did a lot of research before purchasing the Bostitch and I am very glad I did. It has yet to jam. The toe nailing claw is great. It really digs into the wood and allows you to drive nails at any angle without slipping.

Can't go wrong with this.
Nailer
This product is great and it makes framing a breeze. The only problem is that the wire clipped 28 degree nails are not commonly found in a lot of the public building supply stores (Home Depot, Lowes etc.) They can special order them for you but if you need them right away you are out of luck, with that being said once you do get the nails this is one fine nailing machine that will work all day without any problems.
If you want a trouble free framing nailer this is a very fine heavy duty one Bostitch F28WW Clipped Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer with Magnesium Housing

I like this nailer after all
I am editing this review a year later (14Apr08) with some revisions

I am a professional builder presently building super high end homes on the lakefront of Lake Tahoe. I have used every framing nailer made. Before I bought this nailer I was a Senco and Hitachi user. I needed another nailer so from the recommendation of another carpenter I went with this model. What sold it to me was that I liked the fact that it had another nosepiece that allowed it to be used for nailing hardware.
I have had this nailer for about 5 months now and it has a few problems.
When it was new it would tend to spark a lot when ever a nail was fired. Now that it is broken in it sparks still but much less. Edit.. It no longer sparks.
There was a part missing in the unopened box. I promptly ordered it from Bostich and it came right away. The part was a vinyl rod that adjusts the magazine for varying thickness nails.
The nailer really hammers the nail hard with a loud...

Pretty good tool - worth an extra pair of hands (or two)
I'm currently using this sucker to frame my garage. I bought Hitachi plastic collated nails for it. It took me a bit to sort it out, but I was able to find 21 degree full round head nails at Lowes. I've been sticking with the Hitachi nails even though there are cheaper brands - the quality is good.

I used 0.131" diameter 21 degree plastic collated nails, 3 1/4" in length, for all of my framing. I was able to blast a bunch of 2x6's together in no time.

I then used 0.131" diameter 21 degree plastic collated nails, 2 3/4" in length, for all of my sheathing. The nailer handled both of these with ease. I can set the depth so I don't go splintering my OSB with too deep of a punch.

I am currently using the trigger that only allows one shot per pull. I like this feature as I don't go machine-gunning 3 nails on top of one another if I slip during the shot. Sometimes it is a little finicky, as you have to get the tip compressed just-so before you pull the...
Works great
This gun is fairly light and replaces 3 other guns. We used one heavy gun for shooting 16d 3-1/2" common nails for structural framing, one for Simpson hangers, and one for shooting regular 0.131 framing nails. This does all of that with an adjustable (no tools) depth gauge! I usually weld a receiver and run a 1/4" bolt in it, that I double nut for a depth gauge.

I am impressed. Somebody thought this one out.

New Filter Silencer housing enclosure 1/2
do not attempt measuring pipe thread measurements with a tape measure. you cannot measure pipe thread with a linear tool unless you use a conversion calculator which you can find online

DIY9
I am new to compressors. I have a 12 gallon craftsman air compressor that we picked up at a garage sale. The previous muffler/air filter fit in the palm of your hand and allowed a lot of noise to escape out of the pump. This unit is much larger than the stock unit and removed a lot of the unwanted noise. The noise now has more bass rather than the previous extremely loud tinny noise.

The underside of the unit has 3 holes were the air enters, the holes have pipes that enter the inside of the unit. To lower the noise further, sound dampening material could be added inside the unit and plastic tubes could be extended on the outside of the unit as are seen on other smaller mufflers. The diameter of the included filter element is about half the outside diameter, this allows for space for the inside 3 air pipes.

I was concerned about the cover being plastic, but it turned out to not be an issue and I prefer it to the over priced metal ones I saw at the hardware...

Works well
Quieted up my frankensteined compressor setup (various hand-me-downs, not pretty, but highly functional) a decent bit. Pretty large, so some black 1/2" pipe and some fittings were needed to move it a bit. May move a bit further away to quiet the entire machine down when it is permanently installed in my workshop.
Very Good Product
I did not no what to expect with this product , but was pleasantly surprised to find it's design and manufacture are well made.
