So You Need A Safety Valve to Let Off Presssure...
Yes, you could pop a cork or two without a safety valve of some kind. This brass American made valve is made for air compressors, or better stated - for air receiver tanks. At the stamped rating of 160 SCFM of flow, this safety valve is very good for what I need on the 60 and 80 gallon tanks of my two compressors, and can quickly relieve an excessive pressure on them. It also comes with pre-coated sealant on its 1/4" MNPT threads.

You've probably wondered just how the value is determined as many compressors make air set to a maximum of 120 PSI to 175 PSI. For whatever the pressure head is set for or can reach, it's the tank rating you use to select your compressor safety valve. You should be using an ASME rated tank, and that PSI rating will be found on an attached plate as its maximum pressure.
